The Story Continues
The History
Our story takes place in the human kingdoms in the north-east lands of Adrasil. Olaran was unified by the great king Alirion centuries ago, but in recent years civil war and rebellion have split the kingdom.
This year, players will choose a faction, each of which is striving to protect their own interests, as well as the interests of those they represent.
The Hearthguard have established their own realm and named it “The Hearthlands” while the Sea Lords have claimed their ancient realm of Throi by rebelling against the Kingdom of Olaran. The Kingdom of Olaran is now split with internal conflict, with the Rangers supporting the Regency Government, while the Kingsmen back their own king. For now, the Order of Luminos supports the cause of the people and fights alongside the Rangers, while the Themisians support their ancient allies, the Sea Lords. Holding firm to their alliance, the Wold Folk fight alongside the Kingsmen, hoping to preserve their ancient tribal territory.
In this cinematic setting, you will have the chance to immerse yourself into a gritty, realistic fantasy world and explore it with your friends... and enemies!
Remember, this is a war game: while diplomacy may help shift alliances or gain favor with neutrals, universal peace seems a long way away…

Weekend Warrior 2025
(Year of Light 1125)
In the Year of Light 1125, over a thousand years after the unification of Olaran by its first king, the country is more divided than ever before,,, Now each faction has its own territory, divided by differing ideals, fated to fight against those they once fought beside…
Tensions are high, and alliances shift like the sands of the shore. New forces join the battlefield, and nothing is certain… except war.
Following King Bryce's second invasion attempt of Throi through the Wiccawold, the Sea Lords have been furiously working. Commodore Hvitserk has returned from his mission to the Barrens, acquiring valuable intelligence on the status of certain tribes and their allegiances. Captain Andar, after his stint as Commodore, returned to Throi with timber gathered in the Wiccawold. After overseeing the construction of the newest Sea Lord ship - “Barca's Revenge” in the shipyards of Thriese, he assembled a skeleton crew, sailing and raiding along the coast between Norn and Becklin. From there, he departed for points unknown, but there are reports coming in from coastal regions of Olaran that his ship has been spotted sacking and burning the keeps and fortresses of Olar nobles…
In Thriese, King Torvin has been working to resurrect the ancient Salt Guard, which last existed under King Barca, the previous Salt King, over a thousand years ago. The armouries and forges of Throi ring with the hammers of the weaponsmiths, and the docks stay busy keeping the Sea Lord navy in good repair as it continues to blockade the waterways and ports of Olaran. Meanwhile around midsummer, Admiral Kaiþera departed with her cousin Astraea Saelithend and a small retinue on a diplomatic mission to Arkadia, with only a handful of the King's closest confidants knowing her true mission…
The Kingsmen now face a rebellion on two fronts: Throi in the north, and the Rangers led by the Triumvirate of the Ranger Commander, Lord Regent, and Lord Chancellor from inside the country’s own borders. Rumors abound that the Rangers have also stolen the Sword of Hope, further straining King Bryce’s goodwill and ultimate desire for unification. Unsure of the Rangers' next move, the King has called in his closest advisors, the Kingsmen Academy, and representatives of the Wold Folk to counsel him during this time.
In this time of combat, Reeve Kestrel Eo has returned to the capital and begun fortifying defenses while also stabilizing the lands surrounding it. To aid in the governance of the realm, King Bryce has declared Ser Leoric Grayson the realm's High Steward, who will assist in the stabilization and overseeing of the realm alongside the King and Reeve. Kingsmen companies continue to seek peace and protect the innocent impacted by the ongoing civil war. Ranger combatants openly attack supply lines connecting cities further from the capital, and the Sun Company is waging a war all its own to protect Sol from the guerrilla warfare and raids plaguing the Thornwood. With the loss of the Sword of Hope and the ransacking of the treasury, the Kingsmen have consolidated many of the relics throughout the Castles in Olaran for safe keeping in the Kingsmen Academy. While doing so the scholars in the Kingsmen Academy have uncovered writings of King Alirion’s personal journals. Only time will tell what secrets are found in these writings. The Kingsmen now strive to see the realm led by a true and noble King, one whose heart seeks not power, but unity, and who will restore Olaran to its former glory as a kingdom…
Meanwhile, the Order of Luminos has mustered in the abandoned channel island of Ka Ramar, where they have been exploring the ruins, seeking ancient relics, and planning their next move. They have continued their altruistic endeavors in Olaran by organizing aid caravans to the common folk of Adrasil, guaranteed free travel under royal writ of King Bryce, though rumor says that they are secretly supplying the Regency troops with smuggled provisions and weapons purchased from the Themisians. Their water-travel is much hindered by the Sea Lord control of the waterways, but a temporary truce between them and the sailors of Throi has allowed for passage of goods to and from Ka Ramar… at a price.
With the unveiling of the Regency, the three leaders of the Rangers, or “The Triumvirate,” retreated to separate parts of the realm to prepare for the conflict ahead.
In the winter and spring of the year Lord Regent Killian moved swiftly toward the city of Norn, gathering Order members and as many Rangers as could be spared from outposts and garrisons along his path. Once this force, calling itself the Regent’s Sword, arrived at the walls of Norn they set to work forcing out the Kingsmen from the city. The fighting was short but fierce with the Lord Regent leading the Rangers to victory in a few weeks. From there Lord Killian traveled to the other cities of the province ensuring a secure base of operation for the Rangers.
Lord Chancellor Crouchback had long planned his actions with the future of the realm in mind. Directly after the autumn conflict in the Wiccawold, he and his retinue secretly made their way back to the capital of Olaran. Infiltrating the Hall of Records, he retrieved the documents detailing the lineage of the Staghunter family, ensuring the Regent’s records would remain intact. Under the cover of darkness, Lord Crouchback gathered other members of the council, collected as much of the treasury as they could fit in their saddlebags, and slipped away. The council sped toward Lord Crouchback’s estate at Ravenstead and began fortifying it in preparation for battles to come.
Commander O’Dale rode north making his way along paths known only to Rangers, rallying Rangers and spreading word of the rebellion against Bryce. He and his Rangers organized outposts, created weapon caches, and set the Rangers to guerrilla operations throughout Kingsman and Sea Lord controlled territory. The war would last long and Commander O’Dale wanted to ensure that the people and the Rangers would be able to outlast this storm.
Meanwhile, Lieutenant Jan Wolfsbane travelled south. Rumors had been spreading rapidly that Golthans, those ancient enemies of the border-guarding Rangers, had appeared in the Hearthlands. Lieutenant Wolfsbane made his way through the Fire Mountains, dodging Hearthguard patrols and sending ravens in the dead of night to Ranger squads just over the border…
At the Academy of Oxfrith, Lawmasters, healers, and scholars continue to ply their crafts in a world growing increasingly dangerous - and increasingly in need of them. Lady Helena de Galen has taken over the office of Headmistress of the academy, while head healers Lawrien and Barrower have taken over the remote healing operations sponsored by the Academy. Even in a time when coin is scarce, the Academy works to promote healing, order, and justice throughout the war-torn lands…
The Themisian cohort has continued to broker new trade agreements with all sides of the conflict - even sending down representatives to make contact with the Hearthguard. Rumor reports that they have made contact with the Golthans and Arkadians as well, but no one knows for certain: the Themisians keep their own secrets. While they continue to support the Sea Lords in their conflict with Olaran, the one thing uppermost in their minds and hearts is the good of their Empire.
Meanwhile, as the Sea Lords and Rangers gain in strength, the Wold Folk grow ever more concerned, tightening their hold on the borders of their lands. Their chieftain sent word to the Rhenovesus—seasoned scouts and warriors well-traveled in the wilds—to help uncover the shape of the threat that stirred beyond the rivers, while foreign coin, once rare in their forests, now flowed freely, growing their war camps and allowing them to forge new weapons and armor in bronze. While some Wold Folk train in the clearing camps, others make quiet pilgrimages to the groves. Beneath the watchful eyes of seers and druids, they pray for protection, reading the signs in leaf and flame, and preparing for whatever the winds may bring…
Across the lands the fire of war spreads… rumors and whispers abound, and the peace of the three realms seems more distant than ever…
Weekend Warrior 2024
(Year of Light 1124)
There are few navigable paths through the dense woods of the Wicca Wold, and historically, there is only one on which large armies can battle. The Hay Barn wayside tavern that stands near this path used to be seldom used, but now are on the frontier of war…
The Kingsmen have faced bitter strife in their realm since the death of King Osric eight years ago, but they rejoice in the third year of the reign of their new king Bryce, and plan to end this war of rebellion with a decisive attack against Throi while the Hearthguard are far away in their own lands.
The Order has found itself at odds with the Kingsmen and temporarily allied with Throi, but Killian has not pushed for his claim to the throne of Olaran, rather continuing his work to bring justice to all lands with the help of the Order of Luminos.
The Healers Guild has set up camp again at The Hay Barn and has been joined by scholars from Oxfrith Academy, who wish to use this meeting of many realms to further their knowledge.
With Commodore Hvitserk gone on a secret mission to the cold northern lands known as the “Barrens,” Captain Andar Brimwulf has been named Commodore of the Sea Lord fleet and has assembled some of Throi's most capable warriors and healers in preparation to defend their lands once more.
While Commander Brandis has been recalled to the Ranger Conclave to address the growing tension among the members of the Olar alliance, he has raised Captain Tiergan O’Dale to the rank of Commander and sent him to lead the Ranger forces in the Wicca Wold.
The Themisian forces have begun a lucrative trade with their new Throian allies, and already their trade ships ply the waters between the two realms. Now they seek to aid their Throian allies and to broker new deals with the other powers of the land.
The Wold Folk are once again caught up in the fighting between the realms. With their new alliance with the Kingsmen, forged through the marriage of their Chief Rollo with the Reeve of the Kingsmen, they stand ready to fight, though uncertain of what lies in store for the future of their tribes…

Weekend Warrior 2023
(Year of Light 1123)
The year following the triple coronation at the Thornwood was one of steady borderland battles…
The realm of Olaran was fighting a war on both fronts as it strove to regain the territory lost to it when Throi and the Hearthlands rebelled in the Year of Light 1121…
The Sea Lords held the waterways, seas, and channels, and the Hearthguard were fortifying the Hearthlands. Deciding to take the fight to their enemies, the combined Olar forces planned a daring venture and sent an army of Kingsmen and Rangers north, seeking to drive the war into the Wold Wood - the large forested area to the south and east of the Grimmock Mountains - right at the edge of the territory held by the Sea Lords of Throi.
Hearing rumors of this planned invasion from her spies, Admiral Kaiþera sent a messenger to the Hearthlands, calling for aid. She then gathered all the forces at her command and hastened to head off the Olar army. King Torvin joined the army, bringing all the sailors he could gather from Thriese, Throi’s capital city.
In the middle of the Wicca Wold, the Sea Lords met the forces hastening up from the Hearthlands - led by Queen Tove herself. Two of the three Hearthguard Jarls had likewise joined the army, leaving one behind to guard their lands. The armies had scarce time for a greeting before the Olar forces were seen moving through the woods. As night fell, all three armies fortified their encampments, and a temporary truce was brokered by the Heralds Guild and Order of Luminos for the Night of the Unseen - the yearly autumnal festival held throughout the lands that were once under Olaran’s control.
Night fell and a cold wind blew in a gust of light rain that misted the many lines of tents with a fine drizzle. Torches sputtered, and warriors drew their hoods over their heads and gathered round their campfires…

Weekend Warrior 2022
(Year of Light 1122)
As the autumn moon rose high in the sky and the Night of the Unseen approached, the free realms of Throi and the Hearthlands planned a reckless endeavor…
Using the truce-time of the feast, a small force from each realm traveled speedily and in secret to the Mead Hall in the Thornwood - a location still held neutral by the Order of Luminos and the Heralds Guild…
This area had long been held sacred to the Olar crown, as legend has it that it was at the location where the Mead Hall now stands that the first king, Alirion, was crowned. However, the mission was so secret that even the warriors on the expedition didn’t seem to know the intended plan.
Unfortunately for these realms, the forces of the Olaran also heard of the movement, and when the blue and red-clad armies arrived, the Olar forces were there ahead of them - though they were only able to summon a part of their force in the time allowed.
The armies made camp on separate sides of the great Mead Hall, warily watched by the Heralds Guild and the Order of Luminos, who feared that the animosity between the realms would be too strong to maintain the truce…

Weekend Warrior 2021
(Year of Light 1121)
With the death of the last king of Olaran, the treaty tying the Sea Lords to the realm was nullified. Duke Killian’s dismissal from the council still rankled the Hearth-Guard, who now demanded land for their growing tribe. The Kingsmen and Rangers strove to keep order and protect a realm under threat. The four factions agreed to meet together once again to try and broker a peace, choosing to do so the day after the Archdeacon’s Truce had ended.
Under a stormy sky, the negotiators met. But the needs of each faction conflicted too strongly with the demands of the others, and it seemed that a peaceful solution was impossible, at least for the present. The Hearthguard and Sea Lords allied once again, this time each declaring themselves a sovereign nation outside of Olaran’s control. Opposite them, the Kingsmen and Rangers fought alongside each other on Olaran’s behalf, seeking to uphold the realm and the rule of the Throne’s Council.
After days of fighting, the realm seemed no closer to unity… the rebellion had firmly taken root.

Weekend Warrior 2020
(Year of Light 1120)
After days of conflict over Duke Killian’s claim to the regency and the finding of a blade believed to be the Sword of Hope, a truce was established to return to Olaran. After a few weeks of preparation, the Sea Lord ships embarked the rest of the army, and the several month voyage to Olaran was accomplished.
Duke Killian has laid aside the command of the Hearthguard in order to pursue his claim to the regency and possibly the throne in accordance with Olar law. But the Duke is looked upon in a less than favorable light at the moment. How will the forces of Olaran react to his claim and possible ascendance to the most powerful seat in the Kingdom?

Weekend Warrior 2019
(Year of Light 1119)
This year's Weekend Warrior event will follow closely upon the events of Weekend Warrior 2018. In the climactic battle at the end of the event, Earl Torvin’s forces, the Sea Lords and Kingsmen, defeated Duke Killian and prevented his army from reaching the coast and the ships that could take them back to Olaran where the Duke plans to stake his claim as regent.
The Sea Lords and Kingsmen have established a base and are debating the best course of action. Duke Killian with the Rangers and Hearthguard have withdrawn a short way and also consider their options. New ships have also arrived with reinforcements and news from Olaran. How these newcomers will change the course of events is still unknown.
Little progress has been made in the search for the sword of hope. Will the factions continue the search? Or will war interfere?
